| Bethesda Beth-El Worship Center - Teaching Message: John 5:2-8 What Type of Healing Happens at the Pool of Bethesda John 5:2 Now there is in Jerusalem by the sheep gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew Bethesda, having five porches. John 5:3 In these lay a multitude of them that were sick, blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water, John 5:4 for an angel of the Lord went down at certain seasons into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the waters stepped in was made whole, with whatsoever disease he was holden. John 5:5 And a certain man was there, who had been thirty and eight years in his infirmity. John 5:6 When Jesus saw him lying, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wouldest thou be made whole? John 5:7 The sick man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. John 5:8 Jesus saith unto him, Arise, take up thy bed, and walk. (American Standard Version (ASV) John records the first Three (3) signs that Jesus performed as follows: 1) When they ran out of wine, Jesus turned the water (himself) into wine (Holy Spirit), during the wedding feast (during our born again experience/confession, which was on the 3 day, (John 4:46-54 (emphasis 4:50- 54). SIGN OF WHAT WOULD HAPPEN AFTER JESUS ASCENSION, AND SENDING BACK HIS HOLY SPIRIT (WATER TURNED TO WINE) TO BELIEVERS/SAINTS. 2) The nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum who pleaded with Jesus to come down and heal his son, who was at the point of death. Jesus had sent the Word the Seventh (7th) hour, and it was the next day that the Father of the son, realized that the Word Jesus sent forth was accomplished, the boy was healed at the 7th hour, Jesus told him that His son lives. SIGN OF JESUS SENDING FORTH HIS WORD AND WE BEING DELIVERED FROM DEATH TO ETERNAL LIFE (INITIAL SALVATION). 3) The man after 38 years in his sickness was healed; he was hanging around at the Pool of Bethesda. (The place where Jesus third miracle (the instantaneous healing) and sign (prophecy, future promise to the believer) was about to take place). SIGN WHEN THE TIME CAME AND HE WOULD SEND FORTH IDS WORD FOR SALVATION, AND WE WOULD ONLY NEED TO REPLY YES "WE WANT TO BE MADE WHOLE" (CONTINUOUS SALVATION). 4) 5: 1 tells us that it was a feast of the Jews. FEAST in heb. means an assembling, dance, or pilgrimage. They were religious services accompanied by demonstration of joy and gladness. v.2-5 Says that in JERUSALEM (place where redemption accomplished. Royal City. The capital of the only Kingdom of God (1 Kings 14:21) The original name U-ru-sa-lim, a city of Salim "city of peace" the name actually occurs for the first time in Joshua 10:5). Galatians 4:26 tells us not only where Jerusalem is, but this is our mother. Than in Revelation 21:2 is the New Jerusalem coming down from Heaven as a bride that has been made ready/adorned for her husband (Jesus). That is we have, once born again, given what we need to walk with the bridegroom. LAME (Gr. 5560 Crippled, disabled in a limb) AND WITHERED (Gr. 3553 to dry up, to waste way, pine) waiting for the MOVTI\IG (Gr. 2795 to set in motion, move, of the general activity of the human being (Acts 17:28), of removing a lamp stand (figuratively) of causing a local church to be discontinued. (a word that came heard from the spirit of the man, and the soul (mind) making a decision to respond or act on that which it had received, a word, Light, that removes confusion, darkness to see ahead into the future. v.5 38 (#3 = number of Godhead, bridge, divine, coordination, perfection, life, spirit. The perfect number Father, Son & Holy Spirit that come into agreement and the thing is established in heaven and on earth. #8 = Number of Resurrection & New Beginning, fear of the Lord, Life, Circumcision) years in his infirmity/sickness. v.6 but than JESUS SA WHIM LYING THERE, (Jesus decided to come and bring salvation to this man, He saw him and knew how long he had been in this condition, and decided to ask) DO YOU WISH TO GET WELL. v.8 JESUS SAID ARISE (TO ANOTHER POSITION) TAKE UP PALLET/BED) (A covering, a mantel) AND WALK (TO MAKE ONE’S WAY, MAKE PROGRESS). v.10 Marks the time of miracles and healings for the believers, is on the Sabbath day (Gr. 4520 the time of resting from physical labor. Like God on the 7th day of God where we have ceased from our own labor.) BECAUSE IT IS NOT BY MIGHT NOR BY POWER, BUT BY MY SPIRIT SAITH THE LORD-ZECH. 4:6. v.ll JESUS MADE HIM WHOLE (Grk. 5199 hugies hoog-ee-ace') healthy; i.e., will in body or soul. v.I2,I3 The man did not know who healed him, but He knew someone man did it. v.I4 JESUS FOUND HIM SOMETIME LATER IN THE TEMPLE (place of fellowship & worship. We have a temple/spirit not made with hands). Jesus told him that he was made whole, not to sin anymore, lest a worst thing befalls him. (By faith this man believed and did walk (make progress, make one's way). He had received salvation - He means Yeshu ah (same as Jesus who is our salvation) Grk. 4991 Soteria so-tay-ree' -ah means to deliver, health, salvation, save, saving, perseverance. God is called "Savior" (Hosea 13:4). In Old Testament times salvation refers to everyday and regular types of deliverances as from enemies, disease, danger (1 Sam. 10:24, Ps. 72:4). God's future salvation, involves a new creation, the remaking and renewing of the old created order (Is. 9:2-7; 11:1-9; 65:17). Summation and closing Which tells the back drop, history, location, writer's intention as a servant of the Lord (because the written word, multiple messages of past, present and future, show us the types and shadows (OT) of things to come (NT). THE FEAST that brought together multitudes of the children of Israe to JERUSALEM that is In Christ, or denoting a Christian Ministry/Church/Fellowship (those that are In Christ). BY THE SHEEP GATE a place where born again believers can be found (THE SHEEP) and where one can enter into the Gate and receive one of the following (Ministry Office Gift=-Ephesians 4:11 or Ministry Gifts-1 Corinthians 12:28). AND THERE WAS A POOL THAT THE ANGELS CAME DOWN AT A CERTAIN TIME/SEASON AND STIRRED (moved it to action) THE WATER (word) or where Jesus was observing AND HE SENT FORTH HIS WORD HIMSELF that ask permission from us to perform what it is set out to do. SALVATION IN THE PAST DELIVERED AND RECEIVED ETERNAL LIFE, PRESENT CONTINUOUS SALVATION THAT HEALS, DELIVERS AND SETS US FREE TO FIND OUR PURPOSE IN OVERCOMING TO ABIDE FOREVER IN ETERNAL LIFE. FUTURE IS TO RECEIVE THE REWARDS AS OVERCOMER'S, WHEN WE STAND AT THE JUDGMENT SEAT OF CHRIST, AND ABIDE IN THE BRIDE THAT ARE IN THE NEW EARTH.
